Welcome to the home page for the Pine Island Pioneer's baseball team from Pine Island, Minnesota. The Pioneers compete in the Twin Rivers League, a Class C league sanctioned by the Minnesota Amateur Baseball Association. The team is in it's 14th season. Home games are played at the Pine Island High School baseball field and most start at 2:00 pm. |

The Pioneers ended the 2010 season with losses in the region tournament. On Wednesday, August 4, Pine Island lost to Winona by a score of 9-0 in the opening game of the tournament. Then, on Friday, August 6, the Pioneers lost to Rochester 9-8.
On Wednesday, August 4, Stewartville-Racine draftee Jade Boettcher suffered the loss, pitching 5 1/3 innings, giving up 9 runs on 9 hits while striking out 2. Jamey Strand pitched 2/3 of an inning, giving up no runs on 2 hits, striking out 2. Chad Robertson finished the game, pitching 3 innings, giving up no runs on 2 hits and striking out 4. Offensively, Pine Island was led by Ryan Olson with 4 hits. Chad Robertson, Brian Sorum, Jade Boettcher and Justin Streiff each collected a hit.
On Friday, August 6, the Pioneers came back from a 9-2 deficit to get within one run in the 8th inning. Pine Island was shut down in the 9th to preserve the win for Rochester. Jamey Strand took the loss on the mound, pitching 2 innings, giving up 5 runs on 7 hits, striking out 2. Wanamingo draftee, Noah Grove, pitched 1 1/3 inning, giving up 3 runs on 2 hits while striking out 2. Chad Robertson pitched 4 2/3 innings, giving up 1 run on 5 hits and striking out 2. The Pioneers offense was led by clutch hitting from Tom Dunford, with 3 RBIs, a single, a double and a homerun. Chad Robertson collected 2 hits and an RBI and Justin Streiff hit a 2 RBI double.
