Welcome to the home page for the Pine Island Pioneer's baseball team from Pine Island, Minnesota. The Pioneers compete in the Twin Rivers League, a Class C league sanctioned by the Minnesota Amateur Baseball Association. The team is in it's 15th season. Home games are played at the Pine Island High School baseball field.

PIONEERS SPLIT OVER THE WEEKEND

Pine Island dropped a non-league game to Cannon Falls on Saturday, May 19 by a score of 8-3 in extra innings. Sam Jensch took the loss pitching 9 1/3 innings giving up 2 earned runs on 9 hits while walking 7. Dan Drazan and Ryan Olson each pitched 1/3 of an inning in relief of Jensch. The Pioneers defense committed 4 errors in the game which allowed Cannon Falls to prevail. Offensively, PI was led by Bryce Schutte with a double and a single and a run scored. Justin Cole, Brian Sorum, Cody Berg, Nic Enerson and Dan Drazan also collected hits for the Pioneers.

On Sunday, May 20, PI collected their second win of the season and first league win by defeating Wanamingo 4-1. Jamie Wiesner pitched a complete game to earn the win. Wiesner gave up 1 earned run on 3 hits while walking 7. Nic Enerson led the offense with 2 RBIs on 2 hits. Bryce Schutte and Ryan Olson chipped in 2 hits each and Olson and Andrew Ihrke each collected an RBI.

The Pioneers play at Rochester versus the Roadrunners on Wednesday, May 23 and have a full weekend with non-league games on Friday at Hastings and Saturday at Faribault. On Sunday, May 27, PI is at home versus St. Charles for a league game.
